Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is an organizing body that conducts various civil services exam for different posts like Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Administration Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) etc. The exam take place every year for selecting the candidates and it is considered as one of the most difficult entrance examinations. UPSC IAS is the most precious exam of the All Indian Services as they serve Government of India as well as the individual states.

IAS Exam is conducted in 3 stages

 
  • Preliminary Examination
  • Mains Examination
  • Interview

UPSC IAS 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:
  • Candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • For other services, a candidate must be either: - a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, or Bhutan and Tibetan refugees who came before 1st Jan 1962.
  • A Candidate of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire etc.

Age:
Candidate must be 21 years of age and not more than 32 Years. The age relaxation would be provided to the candidates of reserved categories.

 
  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • Defense service personnel: 3 years.
  • Ex-servicemen including commissioned officers ECOs/SSCOs: 5 years
 
UPSC IAS 2020 Educational Qualification

The candidate must hold a degree from one of the Universities established by the Act of the Central or State Legislature in India.

The candidate who has done professional and technical courses should also be from the recognized university.

Those Candidates can also apply for the examination who are in the final year graduation.

 
UPSC IAS 2020 Exam Attempts

Candidates from the General Category shall be allowed 6 attempts at the examination.

Candidates from the other backward classes (OBC) shall be allowed 9 attempts at the examination.

Whereas, there is no limit of attempts for SC & ST.

  • Click on notifications and read carefully
  • After that fill the application form with all details.
  • Upload the scanned documents
  • Pay the application fee
  • Submit your application form
  • Take a printout of the application form
 
UPSC IAS 2020 Application Fee Details

Candidate can submit the application fee via online mode i.e. debit card, credit card and net banking etc.

 
  • Application fee for General Category and OBC is Rs.200/-

  • No fee applicable for SC/ST/PH and females.

UPSC IAS 2020 Examination Pattern

IAS Exam is conducted in 3 stages

 
  • Preliminary Examination
  • Mains Examination
  • Interview
 
IAS Preliminary Exam 2020

IAS Preliminary exam consists 2 objective based papers, General Study and CSAT (civil service aptitude test). Each paper consists 200 marks with 2 hours of duration. Candidate need to qualify both the papers in order to appear for the mains examination. There is negative marking for each wrong answer.

IAS Mains Exam 2020

Those candidates can appear for Mains who had successfully cleared both the papers of Pre examination. It is a descriptive exam where candidate needs to choose two languages one of candidate’s choice and other one is English. After that candidates had 7 more subjects related to history, geography, polity, etc consisting 300 question each. The total paper is of 1750 marks, marks of first two language exams will not be considered but candidate needs to qualify them.

IAS Mains Syllabus 2020-21

UPSC IAS Mains exam consists 1750 marks and the Interview round consists 275 marks. There are total 9 papers in IAS Mains exam out of which 7 papers are considered for ranking. The two are language papers where candidate needs to secure minimum marks prescribed by the UPSC. There is some relief for northeast candidates as they only need to attend English language exam.

Paper – A (Indian Language): Candidate had an option to select any Indian language for exam. Whereas this exam is not mandatory for candidates of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya & Nagaland. Th exam will be of total 300 Marks.

Below are the brief details of UPSC IAS 2020 Admit Card. Follow the steps and download your admit card:-

 
  • Visit the official website of UPSC i.e. upsc.gov.in
  • Click on the link ‘Download IAS Admit Card 2020’.
  • Enter either Registration ID or Roll Number. Click on Login.
  • You will be redirected to your IAS Admit Card 2020.
  • Save the admit card and take its printout.
  • Candidate without admit card will not be allowed to attend the exam.
